Welcome to m3dditieZ
The name m3dditieZ (say moddities) was born at a brain-storming session about finding a name for a set of somehow related MP3/audio projects. It is a combination of the terms mp3 and oddities to moddities with the following modifications s/o/3/ and s/s/Z/.
The m3dditieZ projects are grouped around the concept of organizing MP3 libraries, based on high-quality meta-data like MusicBrainz. This does not mean that we provide any tools for tagging MP3 files, instead we leave this job to Picard, the MusicBrainz tagger application. The toolchain uses the meta-data that Picard has added and organizes the files into a folder structure. Any meta-data changes will get applied automatically when rerunning the tool (not yet released).
The motivation behind the projects here is that we were not satisfied with any (known) existing tools for dealing with MP3 libraries, especially when you want to use the high-quality meta-data from MusicBrainz. Therefore a file-system layout has been defined, where MP3 files can easily be located without any additional software, just by browsing through the folders with your favorite file manager.
